Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the CyChain mobile application ("the App"), developed and maintained by CyberStudios ("we", "us", "our"), a software development company based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.

CyChain is a free cryptocurrency price tracker and USD to South African Rand (ZAR) converter app. It is available on the Google Play Store and is intended primarily for users in South Africa.

This policy is governed by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA), which is the primary data protection legislation of the Republic of South Africa, and is aligned with international best practices including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Specifically, CyChain does not collect:

• Your name, email address, phone number or any contact details
• Your location or GPS data
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs or fingerprints
• Financial information, bank details or wallet addresses
• Usage analytics, crash reports or behavioural data
• Camera, microphone, contacts or media access
• Any biometric data

The App only requires INTERNET and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Android permissions, used solely to fetch publicly available cryptocurrency price data from the CoinGecko API.

Because no personal information is collected, there is no personal data for us to use, process, sell, or share with any party for any purpose.

The only network activity performed by the App is a standard outbound HTTPS GET request to the CoinGecko public API to retrieve cryptocurrency market prices. This request contains no personally identifiable information.

CyChain uses one external service to function:

• CoinGecko API — A publicly available cryptocurrency market data service at coingecko.com. The App sends anonymous HTTPS requests to retrieve current coin prices. No personal data is transmitted. CoinGecko's own Privacy Policy applies to their service: coingecko.com/en/privacy

The App does not integrate any of the following: advertising SDKs, analytics platforms (Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.), social login, payment processors, crash reporting tools, or any other third-party SDK that could collect user data.

Since no personal information is collected by CyChain, there is no personal data stored on CyberStudios servers or any third-party storage infrastructure.

The App may store the most recently fetched cryptocurrency prices locally on your device (in device memory only) to enable offline functionality. This information is:

• Publicly available market data — not personal information
• Never transmitted back to CyberStudios or any server
• Cleared when the App is uninstalled

All network communication between the App and CoinGecko uses TLS/HTTPS encryption in transit.

The Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) grants South African data subjects the following rights in relation to their personal information:

• Right to be notified — You have the right to know if your personal information is being collected and processed.
• Right to access — You may request a record of the personal information we hold about you.
• Right to correction or deletion — You may request that we correct or delete inaccurate or unlawfully obtained personal information.
• Right to object — You may object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
• Right to complain — You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.

CyChain is not directed at children under the age of 18 years. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from minors.

In accordance with POPIA and the Children's Act 38 of 2005, CyberStudios does not process the personal information of children without the consent of a competent person (a parent or guardian).

Since the App collects no personal information from any user, this obligation is satisfied by design. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through our service, please contact us immediately at support@cyberstudios.co.za and we will take appropriate steps.

The CyChain mobile application does not use cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, device fingerprinting, advertising identifiers (GAID/IDFA), or any other tracking technology.

This Privacy Policy page (the website you are reading now) is a static HTML page hosted at cychain.cyberstudios.co.za. It does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other tracking or analytics script. No cookies are set.

CyberStudios reserves the right to update or amend this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Increment the version number
• Post the updated policy at this URL: cychain.cyberstudios.co.za/privacy-policy

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree with the updated policy, please uninstall the App.
